Jodpur
We thought that we may stay at the Ratan Villas another night, but already had reservations at Ajit Bhawan. We decided to check out Ajit before touring Jodpur....we were blown away, and decided to stay at Ajit (it had individual stone cottages behind an old mansion, with a pool/waterfall, classic cars etc). We started out our tour of Jodpur with the Meherangarh Fort. It was very well organized for tourists and impressive! We had a bit of trouble trying to get back to the Ajit, as our rickshaw driver wanted to stop for lunch on the way...but all it took was Ian standing up and looking down at the driver for him to smarten up and take us where we wanted to go! Back at the hotel we had a great swim! and washed clothes. We then took a rickshaw to the Umaid Palace where we toured the museum, and talked our way into the posh hotel for a drink. The drink gave us courage to go into the old city and tour the market place. The people of Jodpur were definitely more friendly than Jaipur, and we enjoyed looking at the wears and talking to the locals. We were looking for a silver bracelet, but insted got talked into buying an incredible silk bed cover. We finished off an amazing day with an omlette from the famous Omlette Shop under the clock tower.
