Leh, Ladakh.

We woke up at 4:45am to leave for the domestic airport, flying Jet Airways to Leh (Boeing 737). The views from the plane were amazing! We could see lots of peaks, glaciers and valleys. It was a very steep turn into the Indus Valley and a quick landing in Leh (short runway); our ears didn't even pop on the way down as Leh is at an elevation of 3505m (11,500 ft). We were picked up at the airport by our hotel (Shamba-La), which was an overpriced/run-down hotel just outside of Leh. We spent the afternoon slowly walking around the town (we had to get acclimatized to the altitude), and spoke to a few trekking agencies. We had lunch at a German Bakery and dinner at a pizza place... what a nice break from lentils & curry!
