Rainforest tour

It was raining when we woke up, but we still made it down to the restaurant for breakfast before getting picked up at 7:30 for our rainforest tour. Our guide picked us up and stopped at the Hilton to pick up 6 Chinese tourists who had purchased the more expensive tour. I guess that it was less hassle to include us in the expensive tour, so we got some extra benefits! The tour started with a walk through the rainforest to visit the Gibbon rehabilitation centre, and continued on to the amazing waterfall. We walked back to the rubber tree plantation, and he demonstrated how they harvest the rubber. We then met the local overweight waterbuffalo, and got a ride from him in an ox cart (we didn't quite understand the point of this). After the bull, the elephants were not so scary. We got an hour safari on Mr.Moo (a 45 year-old elephant) around the rubber planation and through the stream. It was really interesting to see Mr. Moo eat (which he did a lot along the way). After the safari, we hoped onto our kayak and got a tour of the mangroves and the local mussel farms. We hung out with the local long-tailed macaque gang while the other tourists had lunch. When we got back to Kata we went for a romantic Italian dinner.
