Leh to Delhi - DAY 4

0001 . . . not looking forward to the rest of the night.
0030: Random 45 minute stop. Unloading roof cargo. The seats are SO uncomfortable! There's hardly any padding.
0200: Finally out of the foothills of the Himalaya.
0300: The driver takes a really rough side round around Chandigarh in Punjab. It was probably to avoid a few rupees toll road charge as this added at least a couple of hours.
0700: We should be in Delhi by now but we still have another 3 hours. Stop for a really long breakfast break.
0900: We drive through the monsoon flooded state of Haryana.
1030: We arrived in the Northern outskirts of Delhi. We don't have a map and we don't know exactly where we are. All we know is that it's a disgusting part of Delhi with a huge garbage dump and the Yumanuma river, solid black with sewage, with water buffalo swimming in it! Our driver decides to stop before the supposed bus stop at Kashmiri gate. We don't know where we are and I try and get him to continue. No luck, he's already on the roof throwing off our bags. We catch a taxi and at that point, after a 19 hour extremely uncomfortable bus ride, I don't have enough energy to bargain.
1100: We arrive back to civilization at Club Canada.
1200: Lunch with Mom and Dad with plenty of stories and laughs to tell.
1300: We start washing our dust covered clothes and camping equipment.
TOTAL TRAVEL TIME: 38.5 hours on buses. 3 hours in taxis. 7 hours in line. It was all this or wait another 10 days before a 1 hour flight was available.
